Growing up, I always loved helping prepare and mail our family Christmas cards! It was fun for us as kids to put the special Christmas stamps on the cards. Then, Kerri and I would enjoy "playing post office" by sorting them into two stacks by reading the mailing addresses...those cards that were being sent "in town" or "out of town". I don't even think you have to sort them these days! Kerri, isn't that a fun memory? Then, we would drive to the post office and mail them, knowing we were sending our loved ones some Christmas cheer!
Yesterday, we mailed our Christmas cards! Before heading to the post office, I told Ansley some of the people the cards were being sent to and that we were sending the cards to wish them a "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year"! In a way, when we are sending cards, we are "declaring" the good news that Christmas is coming and we are anticipating it! Don't you love getting cards in the mail and with each one feeling like it's one day closer to Christmas?
Can you imagine the angels declaring the greatest news of all...Christ had been born? What an announcement! Did you realize we got a "message" declaring that Christ had come? It's the best Christmas card I've ever received! It's in Luke 2:10-14:
"And the angel said unto them, 'Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord! And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.' And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
'Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men!'"
